Anthology | Mermay’s new adventures

“She had a thing for those sailors, and they had a thing for her. Unfortunately, humans didn’t last long in her element.”

I am so happy and a bit proud that I finally managed to board with #Mermay this year – and twice! I found Sunday’s theme – #Sailor – so inspiring that I stole some more time to finish another drawing: Mermay on her way to new adventures.

Anthology | Mermay and her Sailor

“She had a thing for those sailors, and they had a thing for her. Unfortunately, humans didn’t last long in her element.”

I’m very happy and also a bit proud that this year, inbetween all my other projects, I finally managed to get on board with #Mermay! I found today’s #Sailor theme so inspiring that I’m already trying to find time for another one….

Feature | Article about Spawning in Slate Magazine

Heather Tal Murphy has written an exciting article for SLATE Magazine about Spawning, the company behind haveibeentrained.com (the website where artists can have their images removed from LAION 5B, the database most commonly used to train AI models), and I feature in it too – in words and pictures!

Our Obituary for Prof. Vivienne Westwood in TAZ

Together with other former students and teachers of Vivienne Westwood‘s fashion class at the Berlin University of the Arts, I participated in this commemorative obituary that was published in the culture section of WochenTAZ today – and I also had the great honour of designing the obituary on behalf of all of us.

Lily Lux Online | Gifts and Games for the Spring

Right in time for the phenological inception of spring (at least the sun these days feels like that!), we uploaded some fresh seasonal wallpapers and electronic greeting cards for you and your loved ones over at Lily Lux’ website!

When you ask yourself what Lily Lux would do…

Because I’m having a large construction site right outside my studio window for the past couple of months, my noise protection headphones aren’t always enough and moving my work requires some major rewiring, I wondered what Lily Lux would do here, or better, what it might look to make the best of this terribly annoying situation?

Postcard »Nützliche Knoten« for Kurze Wege

Postkarte mit Infografik, Übersicht oder Anleitung für Nützliche Knoten wie Brezelknoten, Entachtknoten (Slipperknoten), Palstek, Zimmermannschlag (Halteschlinge), Slipstek, Webeleinstek, Kreuzknoten, Schotstek, Halbschlag (Führungsknoten), Einfachschlinge (Halteschlaufe), Stopperstek (Klemmknoten) und Klöppelknoten von Iris Luckhaus

For the project Kurze Wege (Short Paths) of the Protestant Youth in Wunstorf, I revised my Useful Knots and created a postcard from them, which was sent to the supporters of the project together with a piece of rope – in order to “create connections” in this way, which I think is an extremely neat idea!

Art Prints | Early Bird and Night Owl at Posterlounge

I am very happy to announce that my two small scenes on working hours, i.e. early and late shift at the desk in the home office, Early Bird and Night Owl, are now available as posters and art prints at Posterlounge

What can we do against AI-generated Images? (Part II)

Not only have I been learning a lot about AI text-to-image generators and writing a post about the ethical issues involved, but I’ve also been thinking and discussing with collegues what we can do to solve those very issues as soon as possible – on both a large and small scale, and in both the long and short term. Here’s a little roundup!

Tribute | Thank you so much, Vivienne Westwood!

I assume that in most people’s lives, there are a few precious others from whom you have learned a lot and who have shaped you, quite directly or in confrontation or both. For me, my professor Vivienne Westwood, in whose fashion class at Universität der Künste Berlin I studied for four years, was one of those people without whom I would not be who I am today, and to whom I am infinitely grateful for everything I learned from her (and often, against her).

We’d like to wish you very lovely, candle-lit and heartwarming holidays (and a merry Christmas, or whatever you may be celebrating!), and all the best for a truly happy, healthy and wonderful new year Twothousandtwentythree!

Statement | No to AI-generated Images (Part I)

I’ve been learning a lot lately about how the currently popular AIs that generate images from text prompts work. Now that I can find virtually everything I’ve ever published in those databases, I think it’s time to explain this to others:

Available | Animal Trail Poster with Hidden Tracks for Stadtwildtiere

Quiz für Kinder mit Tierspuren und Fährten von Igel, Waschbär, Wildschwein, Eichhörnchen und Fuchs, für Stadtwildtiere im IZW im BBIB, von Iris Luckhaus und Stefanie Argow

After being asked time and again if the animal trail poster I created with tracker Stefanie Argow and Dr. Sarah Kiefer of Stadtwildtiere.de, the Citizen Science project of the Leibniz-Instituts für Zoo- und Wildtierforschung (IZW), was available for purchase, we have now finally uploaded it to Redbubble [product page], where it can be ordered! The original size shown in this article, with life-size tracks, corresponds to the poster in large format, 85 x 120 cm.

Social Media | Just arrived on Mastodon!

Self portrait of slightly detail-obsessed illustrator and designer Iris Luckhaus sitting in front of her display, which is showing an old red car with a happy elderly couple in front of the Eiffel Tower, on a full-width desk with plenty of drawers, in a rather crowded and colou´rful studio. The illustrator is wearing braided and updone red hair with her glasses on top, dressed in a black pullover, old jeans and red flipflops, and holding a pen and a mug in her hands. She is turning around on her chair and smiling at the welcome visitor! In the window, you can see a winter tree with songbirds and feeders, colourful hot-air balloons, a city skyline at a distance, and a very blue sky with a single cloud. On the wall behind the artist's display, you can see lots of small pictures of her illustration and design work. On the desk and on the ground, drawing supplies, project boxes, tiny figurines and other studio necessities are taking up space. The bin is full of paper.

In addition to the usual platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkeIn, Pinterest), you can now find me on Mastodon (@irisluckhaus@mastodon.art), and Lily Lux (Facebook, Twitter, Mastodon; lilylux@mstdn.social) as well!

Identification Chart | Leaves of Trees and Shrubs

Chart, ID, guide, display board, infographic or learning poster to identify leaves / leaf shapes of trees / shrubs like apple, sycamore, birch, blackberry, beech, sweet chestnut, mountain ash, rowan, alder, ash, aspen, field maple, buckthorn, lilac, rosehip, hornbeam, dogwood, hazel, elderberry, cherry, cherry laurel, lime, poplar, plane, robinia, horse chestnut, rhododendron, red oak, sloe, holly, Norway maple, English oak, sessile oak, elm, walnut, willow, hawthorn in forest, field, garden

This summer, we’ve been out and about in forests, fields, parks and gardens a lot, and enjoyed identifying trees! We noticed that the distinction between tree and shrub is quite impractical for identifying leaves on the go!, and therefore, I decided to extend my 25 Tree Leaves identification chart to 36 Tree and Shrub Leaves, to cover the most common large, woody plants! The infographics is now available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6.

Lily Lux Online | Gifts and Games for a happy Fall

Die wunderbare Welt der Lily Lux von Iris Luckhaus

Right in time for the inception of fall, we uploaded some fresh wallpapers, electronic greeting cards and printable pages for your Notizbuch over at Lily Lux. Furthermore, we’re posting #Herbstglück (fall happiness) on Facebook and Twitter again – if you can read a little German, you’re more than welcome to come by and brighten up your fall!

Infographics | Series of Alphabets, Signs and Codes

Infografik, Übersicht oder Lernposter mit Alphabeten, Codes oder Zeichensprachen wie Handalphabet oder Taubstummensprache, Winkeralphabet, Flaggenalphabet oder Semaphor, Blindenschrift oder Braille und Morsecode oder Morseschrift, von Iris Luckhaus

Finally, the series is complete! I revised my Two-Handed Finger Alphabet and Flag Semaphore and also edited the two alphabets that were still missing, Morse Code and Braille Alphabet, to fit in a poster format. The entire series is now available as posters or art prints at Posterlounge (also via eBay!) and as printed on lovely cards, mugs, bags, shirts, pillows, towels, blankets, cases, stickers and a whole lot of other beautiful products at Redbubble and Søciety6!

Today is my last day in the studio before our little summer break – and in mid-August I’ll continue fresh and rested with showing some amazing new projects and identification charts, which I’m already looking forward to!

Lily Lux Online | Gifts and Games for the Summer

For the meteorologial inception of summer, we uploaded some fresh wallpapers and electronic greeting cards at Lily Lux, and we might even start posting #Sommerglück to Facebook and Twitter. We wish you a wonderful summer!

Art Prints | Identification Charts with Foliage Trees

Identification chart, infographic, field guide or learning poster for identifying the shape or silhouette, the leaves or leaf shapes, the fruit, nut, acorn or seed, as well as the buds and shoots of European foliage, broadleaf or deciduous trees such as Alder, Ash, Beech, Birch, Buckeye, Hazel, Hornbeam, Lime, Maple, Oak, Poplar and Willow, by Iris Luckhaus

After drawing Tree Shapes, Leaves, Fruits and Shoots, I have put all these characteristics of the most common foliage trees into a single identification chart, which is helpful to get to know the tree species and identify them over all the seasons. The identification chart is available at Posterlounge (also via eBay!), Redbubble und Søciety6!

Art Print | Identification Chart with Urban Wildlife

Educational poster, display board, identification chart or infographic for identification of wild animals or urban or suburban wildlife in or close to the city such as marten, beech marten, ermine, weasel, least weasel, polecat, forest polecat, river otter, otter, badger, fox, red fox, raccoon, roe deer, deer, fawn, wild boar, piglet, muskrat, Norway rat, brown rat, mole, hedgehog, rabbit, beaver, hare, field hare, bat, field mouse, wood mouse, dormouse and squirrel by Iris Luckhaus

After illustrating the Wildlife of New England last year, planning a color version of my black-and-white forest animals for a long time and recently working more often with and about urban wildlife, at some point it made sense to create an identification chart with wildlife close to settlements, i.e. wild animals that can be seen in the city and on walks! The illustration is finally finished and available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6.

Feature | Catalogue »Modebilder – Kunstkleider«

Foto der Kollektion Jagdfieber von iris Luckhaus im Katalog zur Ausstellung "Modebilder – Kunstkleider" der Berlinischen Galerie, abgebildet zu einem Essay über die Lehrtätigkeit von Vievienne Westwood an der Universität der Künste Berlin, von Dr. Gundula Wolter

I am very happy about my specimen copy of the opulent catalog for the exhibition »Modebilder – Kunstkleider« at the Berlinischen Galerie, for which my former costume history lecturer Dr. Gundula Wolter wrote a very exciting article about Vivienne Westwood’s fashion class at the Berlin University of the Arts, and where I found unexpectedly many and full-page pictures of the huntresses from my diploma collection »Jagdfieber«, which I created there!

Statement | Why Masks and Mask Mandates still Matter

The German Infektionsschutzgesetz (Infection Protection Act) was amended March 20, 2022. In addition to other measures, the mask requirement in public spaces is no longer applicable. Here I would like to explain why I don’t think this is right, and why it is important to continue to wear a mask in public spaces, even if it’s not mandatory.

Art Prints | Identification Chart with Culinary Herbs

Educational poster, display board, identification chart or infographic for identification of the leaves, branches and stems of the most popular kitchen herbs, garden herbs or wild herbs such as basil, wild garlic, savory, borage, watercress, cress, dill, tarragon, fennel, chervil, coriander, spearmint, mint, lovage, laurel, marjoram, oregano, parsley, burnet, pimpinella, rocket, arugula, rosemary, sage, sorrel, chives, thyme, woodruff, lemon balm or balm by Iris Luckhaus

In the meantime, I’ve finished my identification chart on kitchen herbs that I started years ago (but never found time to edit), mainly because I wanted to know for myself what is what and because it’s so exciting to try and understand and draw the blueprint of plants! The chart is available via Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6.

Infographics | Braille Alphabet for the Blind

After Finger Alphabet, Flag Semaphore, and Morse Code, I now finally revised the Braille Alphabet for posters! The infographics is now available as a poster at Posterlounge (also via Amazon and eBay!) and printed on cards, mugs, bags, shirts, pillows, towels, blankets, cases, stickers and other awesome products at Redbubble und Søciety6.

Art Prints | Identification Chart with Tree Leaves

Educational poster, display board, identification chart or infographic for identifying the leaves or leaf shapes of European trees such as apple, crab apple, maple, sycamore, birch, silver birch, beech, common beech, alder, black alder, ash, aspen, field maple , hornbeam, hazel, hazelnut, cherry, wild cherry, linden, small-leaf linden, bora-leaf linden, poplar, black poplar, plane tree, black locust, horse chestnut, buckeye, red oak, oak, Norway maple, holly, ilex, English oak, German oak, sessile oak, elm, field elm, rowan, mountain ash, willow or white willow by Iris Luckhaus

After a couple of years, where I learned a lot about trees – partly thanks to my client, the Landesforsten – I recently completely revised and lovingly corrected the details of my tree leaves, so that every tiny line is finally right (I hope :))! The revised identification chart is now available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6.

Tipps & Tricks | Upgrading our Masks for new Challenges

Optimierte Hybrid-Maske, Behelfsmaske, Alltagsmaske, Stoffmaske, Mund-Nase-Maske oder Mund-Nase-Bedeckung zum selber Nähen nach Anleitung, Schnittmuster und Schablone, passt lückenlos und rutscht nicht dank Rückwärtsfalte für Brillenträger, Nasenbügel, Filteröffnung und Tunnelzug für Ohrgummis oder Kopfbändel von Iris Luckhaus

As new variants and increasing incidences appear, while at the same time mask mandates for public indoor spaces are lifted (…), mask upgrades and mask optimisation are once more discussed widely – and more often than not, the topic is oversimplified. Therefore, I would like to summarize our various DIY approaches to making masks safer and more efficient for the new challenges we’re all facing these days! For further information, you’ll find links in the text.

After the Finger Alphabet and Flag Semaphore, I have now also revised the Morse Code for posters! The infographics is available as a poster at Posterlounge (also via eBay!) as well as printed on beautiful cards, mugs, bags, shirts, cushions, towels, blankets, cases, stickers and many other products at Redbubble and Søciety6.

DIY Instructions | Hybrid Mask Frame for Sewing or Stapling

Due to a reverse pleat, this Mask Frame fits perfectly – even without nose wire!

Design historian Serena Newmark, whom I first met when she showed some beautiful Hybrid Masks on Twitter (#luckhausmask) and lateron introduced my pattern to the workshop »Clothing the Pandemic« by ICOM [International Committee for Museums and Collections of Costume, Fashion and Textile] as part of a lecture on the exchange of information between makers, has now written a great article about me and my Hybrid Mask for the ICOM blog!

DIY Tutorial | Hybrid Boxy Mask Pictorial

Optimized, best, gapless, fog free and stay in place Luckhaus Hybrid Boxy Space Mask like 3D, Origami, Japanese or Octagon, cloth mask, face mask or face covering to sew or make with instructions, cutting pattern and templates, gapless and no fog for glasses wearers, non-slip and breathable thanks to a reverse fold or nose pleat, with nose piece or nose wire, pleats, filter opening and side channels or casings for ear loops or head ties by Iris Luckhaus

In addition to the illustrated instructions for sewing my brand new, not only gaplessly and slip-free fitting, but also very spacious Hybrid Boxy Mask, I have now created a highly detailed step-by-step picture tutorial for beginners!

DIY Instructions | Sewing a Hybrid Boxy Mask

Optimized, best, gapless, fog free and stay in place Luckhaus Hybrid Boxy Space Mask like 3D, Origami, Japanese or Octagon, cloth mask, face mask or face covering to sew or make with instructions, cutting pattern and templates, gapless and no fog for glasses wearers, non-slip and breathable thanks to a reverse fold or nose pleat, with nose piece or nose wire, pleats, filter opening and side channels or casings for ear loops or head ties by Iris Luckhaus

Now that I’ve gone through all the possibilities to customize my original Hybrid Mask for a wide range of face shapes, needs and preferences, I finally created a new cloth mask pattern with an open chin dart (or twisted pleat). Similar to 3D, Boxy, Origami, Japanese or Octagon shapes, which form a square box, the Hybrid Boxy Mask forms a triangular box which does not touch the mouth or nosetip and offers plenty of space for breathing, speaking or singing.

When the abundance became confusing, I’ve turned them into a chart, and now the infographics is available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6, printed on posters, notebooks, postcards and mugs as pictured below, as well as bags, shirts, pillows, scarves, blankets, covers, stickers and plenty of other products!

Art Print (Special Birth Gift) | Foxy goes Hiking

Illustration of a hiking little fox cub with a backpack in the autumnal New England mountains with purple skies, accompanied by a pair of Northern Cardinala, a Black-capped Chickadee, an American Robin, a Sparrow, a Downy Woodpecker, a pair of Tufted Titmousea, an Eastern Bluebird, a Goldfinch, a Baltimore Oriole, a White-breasted Nuthatch, a family of Mallard Ducks and four Ducklings, a White-footed Deer-mouse, a Flying Squirrel, a Garden Snail, a Northern Green Frog, a Spotted Salamander, a Painted Turtle, a Virginia Opossum, a Hedgehog (as the project started with the "hedgehog hike", the hedgehog became sort of our unicorn :)), two Groundhogs or Woodchucks, a Chipmunk, a Red Squirrel, a Striped Skunk, two Cottontail Rabbits, two Red Admirals, a Tailed Blue, a Clouded Sulphur, a Monarch Butterfly, a Least Weasel, an American Pine Marten, a River Otter, two Fly Amanitas, and a Common Raccoon, by Iris Luckhaus.

Little Foxy was one of my favorite projects this year! It all started with a friend enquiring me to draw a special art print for the birth of a friends’ daughter, and it involved extensive research (like, snooping the new mother’s blog for likes and interests :)), finding a new style (I’ve never drawn anthropomorphic animals before, and it was more fun than expected!), figuring out that New England’s wildlife is surprisingly different from European wildlife (American robins are actually thrushs!) and, somehow, drawing so many of these animals that they got their own wall chart!

Press | Emily with NagaKiri’s masks in The Occidental

For an article named “The many faces of mask fashions”, The Occidental asked LA art students about their masks, and my sewing partner NagaKiri‘s adorable daughter Emily is showing three of her beautifully handcrafted Hybrid Masks (avialable via NagaKiri Studio on Etsy). Plus, she’s the cover girl! Thank you Kiri, for letting me know.

DIY Tutorial | Filter Frames for Cloth Masks

Tutorial for the Luckhaus Hybrid Pleated Mask with Filter Frames

Some maskers insert disposable filter materials (e.g. Filti) between the inner and outer layers of reusable cloth masks. For this reason, my Hybrid Mask has a filter opening! This offers the advantage of combining decent fit (through mask pattern) and filter efficiency (through disposable filters), but the disadvantage that filters are often complicated to insert, rarely cover the whole surface and easily slip. For me and my family, double masking, i.e. wearing FFP2 / KN95, surgical or self-stapled, same-pattern filter masks underneath, seems like a better option. Lately though, a lovely mask maker mentioned how complicated double masking is for kids, and I finally had an idea: Filter frames!

Lily Lux Online | Gifts & Games for a Happy Fall

We still miss our former everyday lives, but also enjoy the change of seasons – and used the first autumnal chill to upload fresh wallpapers, greeting cards and printable pages over at Lily Lux. Furthermore, we’ll post #Herbstglück on Facebook and Twitter again soon, so if you can read German, come visit us and brighten up your fall!

Tips & Tricks | Double Masking, or Hybrid Top Masks

Optimierte Hybrid-Maske, Behelfsmaske, Alltagsmaske, Stoffmaske, Mund-Nase-Maske oder Mund-Nase-Bedeckung zum selber Nähen nach Anleitung, Schnittmuster und Schablone, passt lückenlos und rutscht nicht dank Rückwärtsfalte für Brillenträger, Nasenbügel, Filteröffnung und Tunnelzug für Ohrgummis oder Kopfbändel von Iris Luckhaus

Last January, when I wrote my post about Mask Science with the science behind masks, advantages and disadvantages of mask types, practical tests, tips for optimization and a note on why and how we double mask, I still hoped that the vaccine might make masks redundant in everyday life, and that this could be my last mask post. Right now, it looks like thanks to new variants, masks will stay with us for a while (…), and as many people are looking to upgrade their masks these days, I’d like to explain our double masking with the Hybrid Cloth Mask (aka Luckhaus Mask) in detail.

Trali trala, finally a Summer Break!

We’re taking a little break for summer – and look forward to August, when we’ll continue fresh and rested, and when I can finally show you all the wonderful projects I’ve been working on but am not supposed to show yet!

Hybrid Mask | Museum Workshop »Clothing the Pandemic«

Clothing the Pandemic Workshop by ICOM International Committee for Museums and Collections of Costume, Fashion and Textile

I first met Serena Newmark when she posted a beautiful Hybrid Beard Mask (aka #luckhausmask) on Twitter, and we chatted about her pretty skull fabric! Later, Serena asked me if I’d give her an interview about my experiences as a mask pattern maker, and she turned out to be a PhD candidate at FU Berlin with a profound – and super interesting – knowledge about 19th century Prussian furniture in Texas! I feel honoured that Serena will present my Hybrid Mask in a workshop, »Clothing the Pandemic«, by ICOM International Committee for Museums and Collections of Costume, Fashion and Textile, as part of her lecture about »The Creation of an Online Art and Design Reference Library: information seeking and sharing among mask makers«, which takes place online on June 23rd at 3:10 PM CET.

Feature | “Best Portfolio” x 8 at Das Auge

At first I thought I couldn’t trust my eyes, but Das Auge Werkschau is actually showing eight (!!!) of my project portfolios on their landing page as “Best Portfolios”! This is truly awesome, thank you very much!

Note Books and Gym Bags for Stadtwildtiere

Notizhefte mit Fährten und Trittsiegeln für Stadtwildtiere von Iris Luckhaus und HiddenTracks

Together with tracker Stefanie Argow from HiddenTracks and Dr. Sarah Kiefer from Stadtwildtiere.de, the Citizen Science Project of the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), I designed two notebooks and a gym bag, for their advertising and as an identification aid for wild animals whose tracks can be found in the city of Berlin.

Lily Lux Online | Gifts and Games for the Summer

I’ve been working on my European Songbirds wall chart for several years, every now and then. It takes some effort to not just copy a photo, but to create a generalized cross-section from countless images – but that is exactly what helps with the identification! In addition to posters, notebooks, postcards and mugs as pictured above, there are bags, shirts, pillows, scarves, blankets, covers, stickers and many other products available on Redbubble and Søciety6 now.

The new version is now available as a poster in German and English from Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay) and printed on cards, mugs, bags, shirts, pillows, blankets, cases, stickers and other products from Redbubble and Søciety6.

Lily Lux Online | Gifts and Games for the Summer

DIY Instructions | Hybrid Mask Frame for Sewing or Stapling

Hybrid cloth frame, brace or fitter for respirators such as FFP2, FFP3, N95, KN95, medical, surgical or procedure masks, with reverse nose pleat for glasses wearers, channels with ear loops and head ties for a a gapless, fogfree and slipfree fit by Iris Luckhaus, to no-sew make or staple yourself with instructions, pattern and template

After the Hybrid Pleated Mask, Hybrid Custom Masks and the Hybrid Boxy Mask, I created a Hybrid Mask Frame – as an alternative for all those who cannot breathe well with Double Masks, yet don’t find a gaplessly fitting, slip-free respirator or surgical mask. Due to a reverse pleat, this Mask Frame fits perfectly – even without nose wire!

Hybrid Mask Press | ICOM Blog »Clothing the Pandemic«

Clothing the Pandemic Blog by ICOM International Committee for Museums and Collections of Costume, Fashion and Textile

We’d like to wish you very lovely, candle-lit and heartwarming holidays (and a merry Christmas, or whatever you may be celebrating!), and all the best for a truly happy, healthy and wonderful new year Twothousandtwentytwo!

Closing soon | Goodbye, Reusable Mask Co Australia!

Due to personal reasons, my sewing partner Reusable Mask Co Australia is closing their business on October 31st, so if you’d like to own one (or more) of their beautiful masks (recommended by Vogue!), you better order right away! I’m so thankful to Sarah for this amazing collaboration half around the globe, I still adore her masks and truly enjoyed seeing all her adventures and successes in mask making, and I wholeheartedly wish her all the best for the future!

Art Prints | Wall Chart with Wildlife of New England

Infographic Wall Chart featuring the wildlife of new England, such as Blue Jay, Northern Cardinal, Black-capped Chickadee, Robin, Sparrow, Downy Woodpecker, Carolina Wren, Tufted Titmouse, Eastern Bluebird, Goldfinch, Baltimore Oriole, White-breasted Nuthatch, Mallard Duck, Duckling, White-footed Deer-mouse, Flying Squirrel, Garden Snail, Northern Green Frog, Spotted Salamander, Painted Turtle, Virginia Opossum, Hedgehog, Groundhog, Woodchuck, Chipmunk, Red Squirrel, Striped Skunk, Cottontail Rabbit, Red Admiral, Tailed Blue, Clouded Sulphur, Monarch Butterfly, Least Weasel, American Pine Marten, River Otter, Fly Amanita, Gray Fox, Red Fox and Common Raccoon.

As part of my “Foxy goes Hiking” project, I’ve researched and illustrated a lot of the smaller animals of New England.
