With this wall chart, infographic or learning poster, you can identify songbirds such as blackbird / merle, wagtail, blue tit / nun, linnet / flax finch, chaffinch, great spotted woodpecker, jackdaw, greater whitethroat, jay, magpie, skylark, tree sparrow / field sparrow, willow warbler, short-toed tree creeper, garden warbler, redstart, bullfinch / red warbler, serin finch, yellow bunting / goldhammer, spotted flycatcher, greenfinch, nickle / green woodpecker, crested tit, blackstart / black redstart, house sparrow, dunnock, grosbeak / hawfinch, lesser whitethroat, nuthatch, great tit, cuckoo, swift / martlet, house martin, blackcap / blackjack, nightingale, carrion crow, red-backed shrike / red-backed killer, swallow, calver, reed bunting / reed sparrow, robin / redthroat, long-tailed bushtit / tailed tit, mavis / song thrush / filed thrush, firecrest, starling, goldfinch, street pigeon, marsh tit, marsh warbler, coal tit, pied flycatcher, collared dove / turkey dove, fieldfare / field thrush, goldcrest, wren and chiffchaff from the families of sparrows, tits, woodpeckers, finches, jays, buntings, warblers, thrushes, treecreepers, larks, flycatchers, redstarts and pigeons.

I’ve been working on my European Songbirds wall chart for several years, every now and then. It takes some effort to not just copy a photo, but to create a generalized cross-section from countless images – but that is exactly what helps with the identification! In addition to posters, notebooks, postcards and mugs as pictured above, there are bags, shirts, pillows, scarves, blankets, covers, stickers and many other products available at Redbubble and Søciety6 now.

Note Books and Gym Bags for Stadtwildtiere

Notizhefte mit Fährten und Trittsiegeln für Stadtwildtiere von Iris Luckhaus und HiddenTracks

Together with tracker Stefanie Argow from HiddenTracks and Dr. Sarah Kiefer from Stadtwildtiere.de, the Citizen Science Project of the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), I designed two notebooks and a gym bag, for their advertising and as an identification aid for wild animals whose tracks can be found in the city of Berlin.

Raffle | Quiz for »Spuren lesen« by Argow and Fokken

Bastei Lübbe is giving away books on Instagram – with a nicely designed quiz, for which I have provided my animal tracks graphics! Five copies of »Reading tracks – stories that the tracks of animals tell us« by Stefanie Argow and Ulrike Fokken with illustrations by Florian Frick and me will be raffled to those who answer correctly. Good luck!

Published | »Spuren Lesen« by Argow and Fokken

Buch „Spuren Lesen – Geschichten, die uns die Spuren der Tiere erzählen“ von Ulrike Fokken und Stefanie Argow mit Illustrationen von Florian Frick und Grafiken von Iris Luckhaus zu Tierspuren und Trittsiegeln von Wolf, Fuchs, Marderhund, Katze, Rothirsch, Reh, Wildschwein, Dachs, Steinmarder, Fischotter, Waschbär, Feldhase, Biber, Nutria, Wanderratte, Igel, Eichhörnchen, Reiher, Kranich und Rabe

I am very happy to present an amazing new book here, for which I created the track illustrations in cooperation with the (co-) author and professional tracker Stefanie Argow. »Spuren lesen – Geschichten, die uns die Fährten der Tiere erzählen« tells in an exciting, instructive and often humorous way about the stories behind animal tracks.

Drafts for a Bulgarian Fairy Tale

Illustration zu The Little Girl and the Winter Whirlwinds mit Bulgarischen Trachten von Iris Luckhaus

For a client who doesn’t want to be mentioned, I’ve made some drafts to illustrate the Bulgarian fairy tale “The little Girl and the Winter Whirlwinds”. The project evolved in a different direction, but those drafts have led me to a new style – so I’d like to show them, even though they are unfinished and I most likely won’t finish them properly.

I am pleased to finally anounce a book I illustrated for Duden Verlag, a publisher which is famous for its dictionary of the German language, the »Duden«, as the predominant resource for German orthography, but also publishes other books with language-related topics. For Rita Mielke’s »Du hast das Wort, Schätzchen!« (»You have the word, darling!«), which tells 100 exciting and often surprising stories around the German language in a smart, warm and humorous way, I worked in a new, bichrome and simplified style, to resemble book illustrations of the Sixties.

Mimi Fiedler’s “Balkantherapie” | Character & Styling

Character Design und Styling für Mimi Fiedler im Buch Balkantherapie von Iris Luckhaus

Those were my first designs for character, clothes and styling for the book “Brauchstu ma keine Doktor, brauchstu nur diese Buch! – Die Balkantherapie für Liebe, Leib und Leben” by the wonderful Mimi Fiedler, which I illustrated almost a year ago for MVG Verlag. In the book and on the cover, Mimi wears mostly the fourth outfit (striped shirt, hotpants and suspenders), and in one of the small vignettes, the blouse from the third outfit.

I am very happy about my fresh specimens of Lillesang – Das Geheimnis der dunklen Nixe (Nina Blazon, CBT Verlag), because the book turned out to be really, really awesome! Everyhing about it is really super nice: the print, the colours, the paper, the smell and the format! And how much I like the book itself, I already mentioned before.

Kleine Leute in Paris | Souvenirs

Verkäuferin mit Mops in ihrem Souvenirstand mit Postkarten, Postern, Reiseführern, T-Shirts, Taschen, Hüten und Sonnenbrillen von Paris

I decided to refuse the Hide-and-Seek book about Paris, mainly because (a) big top views of a rather flat place do not work well in my twodimensional “dollhouse” perspectives (if Paris had more hills and stairs, it might actually have worked!), and (b) drawing a whole city which really exists makes me want to illustrate absolutely every detail I discovered there – but unfortunately, this would take several years. Besides, I realised that there are illustrators whose whole style is a much better fit for such a project – and that I don’t have to be able to draw everything.

(Deutsch) Fresh Feature | Bettgeschichten Blog

Dankesehr, liebe Naomi! <3
