As part of my “Foxy goes Hiking” project, I’ve researched and illustrated a lot of the smaller animals of New England. When the abundance became confusing, I’ve turned them into a chart, and now the infographics is available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6, printed on posters, notebooks, postcards and mugs as pictured below, as well as bags, shirts, pillows, scarves, blankets, covers, stickers and plenty of other products! ➔
Little Foxy was one of my favorite projects this year! It all started with a friend enquiring me to draw a special art print for the birth of a friends’ daughter, and it involved extensive research (like, snooping the new mother’s blog for likes and interests :)), finding a new style (I’ve never drawn anthropomorphic animals before, and it was more fun than expected!), figuring out that New England’s wildlife is surprisingly different from European wildlife (American robins are actually thrushs!) and, somehow, drawing so many of these animals that they got their own wall chart! ➔
At first I thought I couldn’t trust my eyes, but Das Auge Werkschau is actually showing eight (!!!) of my project portfolios on their landing page as “Best Portfolios”! This is truly awesome, thank you very much! ➔

For a client who doesn’t want to be mentioned, I’ve made some drafts to illustrate the Bulgarian fairy tale “The little Girl and the Winter Whirlwinds”. The project evolved in a different direction, but those drafts have led me to a new style – so I’d like to show them, even though they are unfinished and I most likely won’t finish them properly. ➔

Via Instagram, I discovered cards and gift tags which bloggers crafted with the stamp and die set “Nikolausbande” by Charlie & Paulchen – and those are so amazing and full of stunning ideas that I really have to show them here! ➔
For Charlie & Paulchen, I already designed, styled and illustrated Gerti, the craftable dressup doll, and some seasonal outfits for her – and now, there are three cute little Santas for christmas cards and gift tags following! This gang of Santas is also produced as stamps and dies, which can be used on their own or in combination with each other. ➔
A couple of months ago, I scanned some of my inbetween sketches, in order to try out some new styles and colour schemes, and to make some fresh illustrations for art prints and products – so, here’s a little preview! ➔
In March, I made some drafts for the packagings of Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus and Spreewälder Fährmanns-Snack, which are being produced by the organic trademark Spreenat (Naschgarten) from local pumpkin seeds, nettle salt (Fährmanns-Snack) and beet sugar (Lutki-Schmaus), and traded locally, with a small booklet about Spreewald. ➔
Part of the packaging design for Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus and Fährmanns-Snack, which I drafted for organic trademark Spreenat (Naschgarten) in March, was the character design for Lutki, a friendly (but usually invisible) dwarfish legendary figure from Spreewald. The Lutki-Schmaus is composed of local pumpkin seeds and beet sugar.

I just happily received my voucher specimens of the brandnew Illustratoren Organisation‘s Sedbook 2015/2016, which features my Flora im Walde as a page spread as well as my Queen of Hearts from the 52 Aces Poker Deck and the curious fairytale girls as vignettes – and the book turned out really beautiful! ➔
In february, I was so happy about the first signs of spring that I started to draw Flora, walking through the forest. Soon, there were animals gathering around her, such as foxes, squirrels, swallows, peacock butterflies, racoon, badger, hedgehog, rabbit, marten, falcon, rookie, dormouses, jaybird, magpie, woodpeckers, titmouses, robins, goldfinches, sparrows, chiffchaff, blackbirds, tree frog, bumble bees and a roe deer! ➔
Once again, I am not allowed to show any of my wonderful recent projects (yet!), so here’s some in between personal work; those are inspired by some early bloomers I discovered during the last weeks (marigolds, daisies and roses, which seem to be able to bloom under snow?!) – and full of anticipation for the approaching spring! ➔
The touring exhibition “Märchenwelten” by the Goethe Institutes, which contains three of my Fairytale Girls, is still travellling the world – current dates and places can be found here – and the list is quite impressive! ➔

I just discovered the website for the touring exhibiton “Märchenwelten” about the fairy tales by the brothers Grimm, which is travelling the world thank to the Goethe Institutes, in four copies – and it contains three of my Fairy Tale Girls. Next to some awesome new projects I am not supposed to talk about yet, I started experimenting with new styles again last month, very different from my usual, very time consuming outlines. So, this is the new version of an old fairytale page I meant to rework for ages. ➔
After writing a bit about research and reasons in the post about my Queen of Hearts I made two weeks ago for the 52 Aces Reloaded poker deck by Zeixs, I would now like to show some of my decision boards and part of the evolution of this card. ➔
It’s a great pleasure for me to introduce you to my Queen of Hearts! I illustrated and designed this card for the amazing “52 Aces Reloaded” poker deck by Zeixs – Books for Designers which will be published later this year. I look very much forward to that! Right now, Zeixs are showing a preview of the cards on Facebook, and it’s exciting to see this fantastic deck grow with different styles. ➔
We felt honoured to be invited to take part in the Illustrie’s advent calendar projekt, and we are very happy about our own star on their “Walk of Art & Fame”!!!
The advent calendar project is all about the awesome Mr. Sven Elch, employee of the “Santa & Sons” company, and his very special adventures in the advent season… the Illustrie made a hilarious advent calendar app for iPhone und iPad from this.
In our contribution, we show what happens when Mr. Elch personally takes care of the blog’s guests… Thank you very much Stew and Timo for a very pleasant game of visual ping pong! ➔
Three of my fariytale girls I made a few years ago illustrating the tales “Cinderella” and “Star Thaler”, will be shown from November 29th as part of the travelling exhibition “Märchenwelten” about the stories by the Brother Grimm in Goethe Institutes all over the world! ➔
I just uploaded some of the sketches I made for Lily Lux’ little discovery journey to the Wild West – I liked this one in particular, but in the end travelling without leaving the room seemed to fit the subject Winnetou e.g. his genesis much better. ➔
Here is everything collected you need for a real fun Wild West adventure: the dauntless blood brothers, the sleepy sheriff, the friendly and peaceful settlers, some beautiful native handicrafts, the very serious chief (shown with a totem), lots of exciting books, a malicious bandit, bows and arrows and tomahawks, a herd of wild and brash buffaloes, a little, non-smoky camp fire, a graceful unblinking squaw and a lovely couraged settler girl (riding and shooting like a devil, unfortunately not pictured), the totem (or stake, just like needed), the three smart trappers (wenn ich mich nicht irre, hihihi), the terribly dangerous grizzly, and the cactuses in the ready… and, for sure, a brand spanking new railroad track. ➔
“Ich finde nichts geht über gute Illustrationen. Ich schaue mir heute noch gerne Kinderbücher mit tollen Zeichnungen an. Oftmals sind die Charaktere und deren Mimik so treffend illustriert, dass man fast meint zu wissen was das gezeichnete Etwas denkt. Besonders gelungen finde ich diese Mimik bei den Charakteren von Iris Luckhaus. Ob schmollende Diva oder naives Sterntaler, ich schaue sie mir alle immer wieder gerne an. Wer so wie ich nicht genug von den Illustrationen bekommen kann, der kann ja mal auf der Seite von Iris Luckhaus schauen. Am schönsten finde ich die tollen e-cards, da muss ich glaube ich gleich mal ein paar versenden. Und das süße Sterntaler-Mädchen würde ich mir am liebsten in Großformat an die Wand hängen ➔
