Little Foxy was one of my favorite projects this year! It all started with a friend enquiring me to draw a special art print for the birth of a friends’ daughter, and it involved extensive research (like, snooping the new mother’s blog for likes and interests :)), finding a new style (I’ve never drawn anthropomorphic animals before, and it was more fun than expected!), figuring out that New England’s wildlife is surprisingly different from European wildlife (American robins are actually thrushs!) and, somehow, drawing so many of these animals that they got their own wall chart! ➔
At first I thought I couldn’t trust my eyes, but Das Auge Werkschau is actually showing eight (!!!) of my project portfolios on their landing page as “Best Portfolios”! This is truly awesome, thank you very much! ➔
Angesichts dessen, dass dieses Jahr irgendwie nichts so ist wie sonst, kommt uns unser #Frühlingsglück grade äußerst seltsam vor, und deshalb teilen wir jetzt lieber täglich einen kleinen #Lichtblick aus unserer Welt, um Euch – und uns alle! – vielleicht ein bisschen besser durch diese Zeit zu bringen. Emmy und Patty, which I drew a couple of years ago for a breakfast board for EmpaTrain, are now – slightly reformatted – available as postcards as well! The giraffe, in its role as a symbolic animal for empathy, twas supposed to be a central element in this illustration, and how “Empathy means understanding each other without words”. ➔
EmpaTrain was so fond of the information graphics in the background of my Empathy Lab that they wanted to have extra postcards from the retro wall chart “The Empathic Giraffe” and the poster “Dance on the Volcano”. ➔
After drawing the Emmy und Patty breakfast board for EmpaTrain (specialist for non-violent communication and mediation), I now illustrated the second board for them, which shows an empathy lab – with lab scientists as well as the multitude of substances, facilities and materials you might need to brew empathy on a laboratory bench. This time, my illustration will not only become a breakfast board, but also be printed on postcards and posters, and it will not only be used for advertising their services, but also as a descriptive educational material in seminars! ➔
And how very awesome to discover a few days later that Emmy und Patty (my breakfast board for EmpaTrain) had been featured in the Designtaxi Newsletter as “Portfolio of the Day”!

Little in between illustration that somehow happened while I worked on the Bettgeschichten spread and which I cleaned, coloured and furnished now. Her name is Loulou, by the way, and she really needed a break. Maybe this will become a series? ➔
Isn’t it wonderful to reinvent oneself sometimes? I started developping characters that are much simpler than I’d usually draw them and better at playing in little scenes and I am having a lot of fun with that… to be continued! ➔

Next to some awesome new projects I am not supposed to talk about yet, I started experimenting with new styles again last month, very different from my usual, very time consuming outlines. So, this is the new version of an old fairytale page I meant to rework for ages. ➔
After writing a bit about research and reasons in the post about my Queen of Hearts I made two weeks ago for the 52 Aces Reloaded poker deck by Zeixs, I would now like to show some of my decision boards and part of the evolution of this card. ➔
It’s a great pleasure for me to introduce you to my Queen of Hearts! I illustrated and designed this card for the amazing “52 Aces Reloaded” poker deck by Zeixs – Books for Designers which will be published later this year. I look very much forward to that! Right now, Zeixs are showing a preview of the cards on Facebook, and it’s exciting to see this fantastic deck grow with different styles. ➔
We felt honoured to be invited to take part in the Illustrie’s advent calendar projekt, and we are very happy about our own star on their “Walk of Art & Fame”!!!
The advent calendar project is all about the awesome Mr. Sven Elch, employee of the “Santa & Sons” company, and his very special adventures in the advent season… the Illustrie made a hilarious advent calendar app for iPhone und iPad from this.
In our contribution, we show what happens when Mr. Elch personally takes care of the blog’s guests… Thank you very much Stew and Timo for a very pleasant game of visual ping pong! ➔
I just uploaded some of the sketches I made for Lily Lux’ little discovery journey to the Wild West – I liked this one in particular, but in the end travelling without leaving the room seemed to fit the subject Winnetou e.g. his genesis much better. ➔
Here is everything collected you need for a real fun Wild West adventure: the dauntless blood brothers, the sleepy sheriff, the friendly and peaceful settlers, some beautiful native handicrafts, the very serious chief (shown with a totem), lots of exciting books, a malicious bandit, bows and arrows and tomahawks, a herd of wild and brash buffaloes, a little, non-smoky camp fire, a graceful unblinking squaw and a lovely couraged settler girl (riding and shooting like a devil, unfortunately not pictured), the totem (or stake, just like needed), the three smart trappers (wenn ich mich nicht irre, hihihi), the terribly dangerous grizzly, and the cactuses in the ready… and, for sure, a brand spanking new railroad track. ➔
For the wonderful anthology “Hugh! Winnetou” that will be published in celebration of the Peng!-award to Helmut Nickel as father of the Winnetou-Comics in Juni 2011 by Edition 52, I developed and illustrated a special page with Lily Lux: “Lily loves discoveries.” ➔

The advent calendar project is all about the awesome Mr. Sven Elch, employee of the “Santa & Sons” company, and his very special adventures in the advent season… the Illustrie made a hilarious advent calendar app for iPhone und iPad from this.

I just uploaded some of the sketches I made for Lily Lux’ little discovery journey to the Wild West – I liked this one in particular, but in the end travelling without leaving the room seemed to fit the subject Winnetou e.g. his genesis much better. ➔
Here is everything collected you need for a real fun Wild West adventure: the dauntless blood brothers, the sleepy sheriff, the friendly and peaceful settlers, some beautiful native handicrafts, the very serious chief (shown with a totem), lots of exciting books, a malicious bandit, bows and arrows and tomahawks, a herd of wild and brash buffaloes, a little, non-smoky camp fire, a graceful unblinking squaw and a lovely couraged settler girl (riding and shooting like a devil, unfortunately not pictured), the totem (or stake, just like needed), the three smart trappers (wenn ich mich nicht irre, hihihi), the terribly dangerous grizzly, and the cactuses in the ready… and, for sure, a brand spanking new railroad track. ➔
For the wonderful anthology “Hugh! Winnetou” that will be published in celebration of the Peng!-award to Helmut Nickel as father of the Winnetou-Comics in Juni 2011 by Edition 52, I developed and illustrated a special page with Lily Lux: “Lily loves discoveries.” ➔
