Available | Animal Trail Poster with Hidden Tracks for Stadtwildtiere

Quiz für Kinder mit Tierspuren und Fährten von Igel, Waschbär, Wildschwein, Eichhörnchen und Fuchs, für Stadtwildtiere im IZW im BBIB, von Iris Luckhaus und Stefanie Argow

After being asked time and again if the animal trail poster I created with tracker Stefanie Argow and Dr. Sarah Kiefer of Stadtwildtiere.de, the Citizen Science project of the Leibniz-Instituts für Zoo- und Wildtierforschung (IZW), was available for purchase, we have now finally uploaded it to Redbubble [product page], where it can be ordered! The original size shown in this article, with life-size tracks, corresponds to the poster in large format, 85 x 120 cm.

Identification Chart | Leaves of Trees and Shrubs

Chart, ID, guide, display board, infographic or learning poster to identify leaves / leaf shapes of trees / shrubs like apple, sycamore, birch, blackberry, beech, sweet chestnut, mountain ash, rowan, alder, ash, aspen, field maple, buckthorn, lilac, rosehip, hornbeam, dogwood, hazel, elderberry, cherry, cherry laurel, lime, poplar, plane, robinia, horse chestnut, rhododendron, red oak, sloe, holly, Norway maple, English oak, sessile oak, elm, walnut, willow, hawthorn in forest, field, garden

This summer, we’ve been out and about in forests, fields, parks and gardens a lot, and enjoyed identifying trees! We noticed that the distinction between tree and shrub is quite impractical for identifying leaves on the go!, and therefore, I decided to extend my 25 Tree Leaves identification chart to 36 Tree and Shrub Leaves, to cover the most common large, woody plants! The infographics is now available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6.

After publishing my Songbirds last year, I now lovingly revised all birds to make them even more distinctive! The new version is now available as a poster in German and English from Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay) and printed on cards, mugs, bags, shirts, pillows, blankets, cases, stickers and other products from Redbubble and Søciety6.

Art Prints | Identification Charts with Foliage Trees

Identification chart, infographic, field guide or learning poster for identifying the shape or silhouette, the leaves or leaf shapes, the fruit, nut, acorn or seed, as well as the buds and shoots of European foliage, broadleaf or deciduous trees such as Alder, Ash, Beech, Birch, Buckeye, Hazel, Hornbeam, Lime, Maple, Oak, Poplar and Willow, by Iris Luckhaus

After drawing Tree Shapes, Leaves, Fruits and Shoots, I have put all these characteristics of the most common foliage trees into a single identification chart, which is helpful to get to know the tree species and identify them over all the seasons. The identification chart is available at Posterlounge (also via eBay!), Redbubble und Søciety6!

Art Print | Identification Chart with Urban Wildlife

Educational poster, display board, identification chart or infographic for identification of wild animals or urban or suburban wildlife in or close to the city such as marten, beech marten, ermine, weasel, least weasel, polecat, forest polecat, river otter, otter, badger, fox, red fox, raccoon, roe deer, deer, fawn, wild boar, piglet, muskrat, Norway rat, brown rat, mole, hedgehog, rabbit, beaver, hare, field hare, bat, field mouse, wood mouse, dormouse and squirrel by Iris Luckhaus

After illustrating the Wildlife of New England last year, planning a color version of my black-and-white forest animals for a long time and recently working more often with and about urban wildlife, at some point it made sense to create an identification chart with wildlife close to settlements, i.e. wild animals that can be seen in the city and on walks! The illustration is finally finished and available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6.

Statement | Why Masks and Mask Mandates still Matter

The German Infektionsschutzgesetz (Infection Protection Act) was amended March 20, 2022. In addition to other measures, the mask requirement in public spaces is no longer applicable. Here I would like to explain why I don’t think this is right, and why it is important to continue to wear a mask in public spaces, even if it’s not mandatory.

Art Prints | Identification Chart with Tree Leaves

Educational poster, display board, identification chart or infographic for identifying the leaves or leaf shapes of European trees such as apple, crab apple, maple, sycamore, birch, silver birch, beech, common beech, alder, black alder, ash, aspen, field maple , hornbeam, hazel, hazelnut, cherry, wild cherry, linden, small-leaf linden, bora-leaf linden, poplar, black poplar, plane tree, black locust, horse chestnut, buckeye, red oak, oak, Norway maple, holly, ilex, English oak, German oak, sessile oak, elm, field elm, rowan, mountain ash, willow or white willow by Iris Luckhaus

After a couple of years, where I learned a lot about trees – partly thanks to my client, the Landesforsten – I recently completely revised and lovingly corrected the details of my tree leaves, so that every tiny line is finally right (I hope :))! The revised identification chart is now available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6.

Art Prints | Wall Chart with Wildlife of New England

Infographic Wall Chart featuring the wildlife of new England, such as Blue Jay, Northern Cardinal, Black-capped Chickadee, Robin, Sparrow, Downy Woodpecker, Carolina Wren, Tufted Titmouse, Eastern Bluebird, Goldfinch, Baltimore Oriole, White-breasted Nuthatch, Mallard Duck, Duckling, White-footed Deer-mouse, Flying Squirrel, Garden Snail, Northern Green Frog, Spotted Salamander, Painted Turtle, Virginia Opossum, Hedgehog, Groundhog, Woodchuck, Chipmunk, Red Squirrel, Striped Skunk, Cottontail Rabbit, Red Admiral, Tailed Blue, Clouded Sulphur, Monarch Butterfly, Least Weasel, American Pine Marten, River Otter, Fly Amanita, Gray Fox, Red Fox and Common Raccoon.

As part of my “Foxy goes Hiking” project, I’ve researched and illustrated a lot of the smaller animals of New England. When the abundance became confusing, I’ve turned them into a chart, and now the infographics is available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6, printed on posters, notebooks, postcards and mugs as pictured below, as well as bags, shirts, pillows, scarves, blankets, covers, stickers and plenty of other products!

Art Print (Special Birth Gift) | Foxy goes Hiking

Illustration of a hiking little fox cub with a backpack in the autumnal New England mountains with purple skies, accompanied by a pair of Northern Cardinala, a Black-capped Chickadee, an American Robin, a Sparrow, a Downy Woodpecker, a pair of Tufted Titmousea, an Eastern Bluebird, a Goldfinch, a Baltimore Oriole, a White-breasted Nuthatch, a family of Mallard Ducks and four Ducklings, a White-footed Deer-mouse, a Flying Squirrel, a Garden Snail, a Northern Green Frog, a Spotted Salamander, a Painted Turtle, a Virginia Opossum, a Hedgehog (as the project started with the "hedgehog hike", the hedgehog became sort of our unicorn :)), two Groundhogs or Woodchucks, a Chipmunk, a Red Squirrel, a Striped Skunk, two Cottontail Rabbits, two Red Admirals, a Tailed Blue, a Clouded Sulphur, a Monarch Butterfly, a Least Weasel, an American Pine Marten, a River Otter, two Fly Amanitas, and a Common Raccoon, by Iris Luckhaus.

Little Foxy was one of my favorite projects this year! It all started with a friend enquiring me to draw a special art print for the birth of a friends’ daughter, and it involved extensive research (like, snooping the new mother’s blog for likes and interests :)), finding a new style (I’ve never drawn anthropomorphic animals before, and it was more fun than expected!), figuring out that New England’s wildlife is surprisingly different from European wildlife (American robins are actually thrushs!) and, somehow, drawing so many of these animals that they got their own wall chart!

Feature | “Best Portfolio” x 8 at Das Auge

At first I thought I couldn’t trust my eyes, but Das Auge Werkschau is actually showing eight (!!!) of my project portfolios on their landing page as “Best Portfolios”! This is truly awesome, thank you very much!

Note Books and Gym Bags for Stadtwildtiere

Notizhefte mit Fährten und Trittsiegeln für Stadtwildtiere von Iris Luckhaus und HiddenTracks

Together with tracker Stefanie Argow from HiddenTracks and Dr. Sarah Kiefer from Stadtwildtiere.de, the Citizen Science Project of the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), I designed two notebooks and a gym bag, for their advertising and as an identification aid for wild animals whose tracks can be found in the city of Berlin.

Art Prints | Identification Chart with Songbirds

Identification chart, infographic or learning poster to identify European Songbirds or Garden Birds such as Blackbird / Merle, Blackcap / Blackjack, Blackstart, Blue Tit / Nun, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Carrion Crow, Chiffchaff, City / Street Dove, Coal Tit, Collared Dove, Crested Tit, Cuckoo, Dunnock, Fieldfare, Firecrest, Garden Warbler, Goldcrest, Golden Oriole, Goldfinch, Great Tit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Greenfinch, Grosbeak / Hawfinch, House Martin, House Sparrow, Jackdaw, Jay, Kingfisher, Lesser Whitethroat, Linnet / Flax Finch, Long-Tailed Tit, Magpie, Marsh Tit, Marsh Warbler, Nightingale, Nuthatch, Pied Flycatcher, Pied Wagtail, Redstart, Reed Bunting, Robin, Serin Finch, Skylark, Song Thrush / Mavis, Spotted Flycatcher, Starling, Swallow, Swift / Martlet, Tree Creeper, Tree Sparrow / Field Sparrow, Wood Pigeon, Wren, Willow Warbler and Yellowhammer / Yellow Bunting, from the families of Sparrows, Tits, Woodpeckers, Finches, Jays, Buntings, Warblers, Thrushes, Treecreepers, Larks, Flycatchers, Redstarts and Pigeons, by iris Luckhaus

I’ve been working on my European Songbirds wall chart for several years, every now and then. It takes some effort to not just copy a photo, but to create a generalized cross-section from countless images – but that is exactly what helps with the identification! In addition to posters, notebooks, postcards and mugs as pictured above, there are bags, shirts, pillows, scarves, blankets, covers, stickers and many other products available on Redbubble and Søciety6 now.

I am very happy about my fresh specimens of the fall issue of »Waldstück«, the very awesome free magazine by Niedersächsische Landesforste! I reworked my 25 Common Leaf Shapes for a large children’s poster which contains not only the leaves, but also lots of interesting information and little stories about each of them.

Packaging | Drafts for Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus

In March, I made some drafts for the packagings of Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus and Spreewälder Fährmanns-Snack, which are being produced by the organic trademark Spreenat (Naschgarten) from local pumpkin seeds, nettle salt (Fährmanns-Snack) and beet sugar (Lutki-Schmaus), and traded locally, with a small booklet about Spreewald.

Character Design | Lutki for Spreewälder Naschgarten

Part of the packaging design for Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus and Fährmanns-Snack, which I drafted for organic trademark Spreenat (Naschgarten) in March, was the character design for Lutki, a friendly (but usually invisible) dwarfish legendary figure from Spreewald. The Lutki-Schmaus is composed of local pumpkin seeds and beet sugar.

Art Prints | Identification Chart with Tree Shapes

A practical infographic wal chart sheet that helps you to easily identify, learn and remember the typical shapes of 16 common European tree species, such as alder, apple, ash, beech, birch, chestnut, fir, juniper, larch, linde, maple, oak, pine, poplar, spruce, sycamore and willow

The Niedersächsischen Landesforsten (forest administration of Lower Saxony), with whom I recently have developed 16 graphics for the typical silhouettes of different trees, allowed me to use my illustrations freely – so I have set them up in my own  layout, and they’re already available at Posterlounge (Amazon / eBay), Redbubble and Søciety6.
