Little Foxy was one of my favorite projects this year! It all started with a friend enquiring me to draw a special art print for the birth of a friends’ daughter, and it involved extensive research (like, snooping the new mother’s blog for likes and interests :)), finding a new style (I’ve never drawn anthropomorphic animals before, and it was more fun than expected!), figuring out that New England’s wildlife is surprisingly different from European wildlife (American robins are actually thrushs!) and, somehow, drawing so many of these animals that they got their own wall chart! ➔

In March, I made some drafts for the packagings of Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus and Spreewälder Fährmanns-Snack, which are being produced by the organic trademark Spreenat (Naschgarten) from local pumpkin seeds, nettle salt (Fährmanns-Snack) and beet sugar (Lutki-Schmaus), and traded locally, with a small booklet about Spreewald. ➔
Part of the packaging design for Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus and Fährmanns-Snack, which I drafted for organic trademark Spreenat (Naschgarten) in March, was the character design for Lutki, a friendly (but usually invisible) dwarfish legendary figure from Spreewald. The Lutki-Schmaus is composed of local pumpkin seeds and beet sugar.

For almost a year, I’m working with track reader Stefanie Argow, on an extended version of my animal tracks, which is already being used by WWF and IZW. For Steffis classes, I created a work sheet for Trittsiegelkunde (track science), featuring 10 species such as fox, cat, bagder, marten, rabbit, racoon, squirrel, hedgehog, deer and wild boar. ➔

For a client who doesn’t want to be mentioned, I’ve made some drafts to illustrate the Bulgarian fairy tale “The little Girl and the Winter Whirlwinds”. WWF Junior just published the article “War das eine Katze? Geh doch mal auf Spurensuche!” (“Was that a cat? Go out to read tracks!”) by professional trackreader Stefanie Argow – with one of the track illustrations she and I are creating in cooperation right now! Here, it’s the lynx, which can be mistaken for a cat or a lion, depending on its size. ➔

The Niedersächsischen Landesforsten, for whose »Waldstück« magazine I’ve drawn several identification sheets, decided to publish four posters with tree leaves, animal tracks, bird flights and tree silhouettes for usage in their forest centres! Christian Talla, who edits the posters so lovingly, brought them to Din A2 format. ➔
For some months now, between other projects, I’m working on an extended and more detailed version of my animal traces – together with track reader Stefanie Argow! This co-operation is really exciting for me, and I learn a lot. ➔

My very simple two-handed Finger Alphabet has been part of the last April issue of the »Eltern Family« magazine – and now I am happy to announce that, thanks to a cooperation, it will also be presented on the online family pages of Deutsche Bahn, under the title »Geheimsprache als Zeitvertreib« (»Cipher Language as a Pastime«). Now I wonder if on my next train journey, I will see children using my grandmother’s very own hand alphabet?! ➔

I reworked my 25 Common Leaf Shapes for a large children’s poster which contains not only the leaves, but also lots of interesting information and little stories about each of them. ➔
In March, I made some drafts for the packagings of Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus and Spreewälder Fährmanns-Snack, which are being produced by the organic trademark Spreenat (Naschgarten) from local pumpkin seeds, nettle salt (Fährmanns-Snack) and beet sugar (Lutki-Schmaus), and traded locally, with a small booklet about Spreewald. ➔
Part of the packaging design for Spreewälder Lutki-Schmaus and Fährmanns-Snack, which I drafted for organic trademark Spreenat (Naschgarten) in March, was the character design for Lutki, a friendly (but usually invisible) dwarfish legendary figure from Spreewald. The Lutki-Schmaus is composed of local pumpkin seeds and beet sugar.
I just received my voucher specimens for the april issue of the German »Eltern Family« magazine, for which I reworked my two-handed Finger Alphabet, and I am very happy to see it turned out real nice! ➔
