I really like those bichrome book illustrations from the Sixties, and for a long time, I wanted to try out how that style might work with my girls. Today, as the weather is nice, I long for Paris, and I’m waiting for some client feedback, I’ve drawn Amy (who likes to call herself “Aimée” in Paris), all dressed up for a walking her little dog, May, in the city. ➔
I’ve had so much fun with my posters for the Posterlounge earlier this week that I also renewed my shop at Søciety6 right away – besides artprints, you can also buy my girls on greeting cards, coffee mugs, throw pillows, tote bags, sleeves, cases and skins now – and some of them even fitted on duvet covers and shower curtains! ➔
I just happily received my voucher specimens of the brandnew Illustratoren Organisation‘s Sedbook 2015/2016, which features my Flora im Walde as a page spread as well as my Queen of Hearts from the 52 Aces Poker Deck and the curious fairytale girls as vignettes – and the book turned out really beautiful! ➔
In february, I was so happy about the first signs of spring that I started to draw Flora, walking through the forest. Soon, there were animals gathering around her, such as foxes, squirrels, swallows, peacock butterflies, racoon, badger, hedgehog, rabbit, marten, falcon, rookie, dormouses, jaybird, magpie, woodpeckers, titmouses, robins, goldfinches, sparrows, chiffchaff, blackbirds, tree frog, bumble bees and a roe deer! ➔
Once again, I am not allowed to show any of my wonderful recent projects (yet!), so here’s some in between personal work; those are inspired by some early bloomers I discovered during the last weeks (marigolds, daisies and roses, which seem to be able to bloom under snow?!) – and full of anticipation for the approaching spring! ➔

For the editor CBJ/Random House, I have illustrated some very detailed end papers and lots of vignettes for “Lillesang” by Nina Blazon, a youth book for girls from age 10 – and a really beautiful and exciting mermaid story. ➔
Next to some awesome new projects I am not supposed to talk about yet, I started experimenting with new styles again last month, very different from my usual, very time consuming outlines. So, this is the new version of an old fairytale page I meant to rework for ages. ➔

My first all-handmade original drawing since 2004, for the sketchbook ‘Meine Welt’ (my world) by Illustratoren-Organisation. It was great, great fun and I had a hilarious weekend with the book… even though it was really heartbreaking to say goodbye and send it over to its next stop! ➔
For the textile magazine ‘Kettenwirk-Praxis’, I illustrated a topic called ‘Hightech meets Klassik: Panties in Art Nouveau Design’. For that, I took a picture of the sewn panties on a mannequin, scanned the fabric sample and collaged both into the illustration. ➔

I had a hilarious weekend with a massive amount of paper, watercolours, inks, beetroot juice, red wine, curry, glass cleaner, christmas ornaments and plenty of other things that helped me work on some structured backgrounds for greeting cards by Intergreeting Schott. It was splendid to use colours, structures and chemical reactions just like a child, but it’s not as splendid how my office smells now… and the desk is slightly patterned as well. ➔

My first all-handmade original drawing since 2004, for the sketchbook ‘Meine Welt’ (my world) by Illustratoren-Organisation. It was great, great fun and I had a hilarious weekend with the book… even though it was really heartbreaking to say goodbye and send it over to its next stop! ➔
For the textile magazine ‘Kettenwirk-Praxis’, I illustrated a topic called ‘Hightech meets Klassik: Panties in Art Nouveau Design’. For that, I took a picture of the sewn panties on a mannequin, scanned the fabric sample and collaged both into the illustration. ➔

I had a hilarious weekend with a massive amount of paper, watercolours, inks, beetroot juice, red wine, curry, glass cleaner, christmas ornaments and plenty of other things that helped me work on some structured backgrounds for greeting cards by Intergreeting Schott. It was splendid to use colours, structures and chemical reactions just like a child, but it’s not as splendid how my office smells now… and the desk is slightly patterned as well. ➔
