Infographic | Mask Tying Techniques for Face Masks

Infographics about mask tying techniques, showing by the example of the hybrid cloth mask pattern several ways to fasten a community mask, cloth mask or fabric face mask with ear straps, elastics or head ties and knots, by Iris Luckhaus

If you take a closer look, there are so many ways to attach a face mask to your ears or head! After looking into masks in great detail over the past couple of weeks and having all these little sketches for mask tying techniques on my desk, I finally drew an infographic that shows 9 different ways to tie a cloth mask with ear bands or head ties.

DIY Tutorial | Hybrid Cloth Mask Pictorial

Optimierte Hybrid-Maske, Behelfsmaske, Alltagsmaske, Mundmaske, Mund-Nase-Maske oder Mund-Nase-Bedeckung zum Selbstnähen mit Anleitung, Schnittmuster und Schablone auf Stoff mit Nasenbügel, Filteröffnung und Tunnelzug für Ohrhaöter und Kopfbändel von Iris Luckhaus

Since I first published pattern and instructions for my Hybrid Cloth Mask (a mask that actually fits!), I’ve been asked about making a detail tutorial for beginners and visual learners, but as a video needs some proper planning plus a quiet day or three and a picture tutorial was possible to just make inbetween, I decided to go with that for now.

DIY Instructions | Sewing a Hybrid Cloth Mask

Optimierte Hybrid-Maske, Behelfsmaske, Alltagsmaske, Mundmaske, Mund-Nase-Maske oder Mund-Nase-Bedeckung zum Selbstnähen mit Anleitung, Schnittmuster und Schablone auf Stoff mit Nasenbügel, Filteröffnung und Tunnelzug für Ohrhaöter und Kopfbändel von Iris Luckhaus

For my own production, I tried to optimize the pattern and manufacture of the cloth mask, so there’s no need to touch and straighten it out while wearing. To achieve this, the mask is supposed to fit snug and gapless around the nose, cheek and chin and not slide up the eyes or down the nose. Other points I found important were easy replacement of parts such as wire, filter and ties, plus quick and simple sewing, washing and ironing without too much ado.

Anthology | Lily Lux Colouring Sheet at Malbogen

Ausmalbarer Malbogen mit Lily Lux an einem stürmischen Herbsttag beim Flug mit einem Lenkdrachen

A couple of years ago, I created a colouring sheet for the wonderful Malbogen Blog, right after a storm almost stole my scarf and when Lily Lux was longing for new adventures The special thing about it is that it can not only be used for colouring in, but due to some open space, you can even draw your own ideas! Maybe coloring in, painting on, and making up your own little trip with the wind might help you feel a little less locked up at home. Have a good flight!

For my own production, I tried to optimize the pattern and manufacture of the cloth mask, so there’s no need to touch and straighten it out while wearing. Art Prints | Happy Birthday, Posterlounge!

Poster mit Illustrationen von glücklichen, selbstbewussten Mädchen und Frauen sowie Infografiken zu Blattformen, Tierspuren und Vogelsilhouetten von Iris Luckhaus bei der Posterlounge

In August, the amazing Posterlounge is celebrating its 15th birthday! I’d like to wholeheartedly congratulate them, and I’m also happy to announce that all month long, there’s a 15% discount on everything (amongst many other posters, my own illustrations, infographics und life drawings!) with the code “HAPPY15”. Btw, I’m on board for 12 years :)

Art Prints | Identification Sheets with Tree Shapes

A practical infographic wal chart sheet that helps you to easily identify, learn and remember the typical shapes of 16 common European tree species, such as alder, apple, ash, beech, birch, chestnut, fir, juniper, larch, linde, maple, oak, pine, poplar, spruce, sycamore and willow

The Niedersächsischen Landesforsten (forest administration of Lower Saxony), with whom I recently have developed 16 graphics for the typical silhouettes of different trees, allowed me to use my illustrations freely – so I have now set them up in my own layout, and they’re already available at the Posterlounge (soon also via Amazon and eBay!).

DIY-Anziehpuppe "Gerti geht baden" für den Sommer

Via Instagram, I discovered lots of cards which DIY bloggers crafted with the stamp and die set “Gerti geht baden” (Gerti goes swimming) by Charlie & Paulchen – and some of them are so amazing, unique and full of stunning ideas that I just can’t stop looking, so I thought it would be nice to show them here and recommend those bloggers!
