After being asked time and again if the animal trail poster I created with tracker Stefanie Argow and Dr. Sarah Kiefer of Stadtwildtiere.de, the Citizen Science project of the Leibniz-Instituts für Zoo- und Wildtierforschung (IZW), was available for purchase, we have now finally uploaded it to Redbubble [product page], where it can be ordered! The original size shown in this article, with life-size tracks, corresponds to the poster in large format, 85 x 120 cm.
On the large-format (A0) floor poster five Berlin city wildlife (squirrel, hedgehog, fox, raccoon and wild boar) in original size – exactly how you find the tracks in nature – walked along! I first created a track with Steffi in the most typical gait of each animal (fox laces, squirrel jumps, etc.) and then let all the animals run criss-cross on the poster.
Stadtwildtiere.de is a highly interesting project about wildlife in the city, and the Berlin offshoot can be found at berlin.stadtwildtiere.de. There, you can discover all sorts of exciting citizen science projects, you can report sights of wildlife and their tracks, and you can find practical tips for good coexistence between humans and animals!
Many thanks to Stefanie Argow of Hidden Tracks,, Dr. Sarah Kiefer as well as the Leibniz-Institut für Zoo- und Wildtierforschung (IZW) for allowing me to offer this great and educational poster for sale now!
