After I’ve been asked time and again for years when my infographics will finally be available as posters, I’ve revised and uploaded the Flag Semaphore Alphabet! The chart is now available as a poster at Posterlounge (also via eBay!) as well as printed on cards, mugs, bags, shirts and many other lovely products at Redbubble and Søciety6.
The Flag Sempahore, which can be seen well from is used for optical message transmission, between ships as well as (rarely) on land. Before the invention of radiotelephony, it was used much more frequently. Today, the flag language is mainly used where you want to avoid eavesdropping on transmitted content. The individual letters result from the position the waver holds two flags. The individual letters are called semaphor, the alphabet semaphore.
The Flag Semaphore Cgaracters are part of my series of alphabets, which includes Finger Alphabet, Braille Alphabet and Morse Code. All infographics are available as posters or art prints at Posterlounge (in German; also via Amazon and eBay!) and printed on beautiful cards, mugs, bags, shirts, pillows, towels, blankets, cases, stickers and a very wide range of other amazing products at Redbubble (in German and English) and Søciety6 (in English)! ➔
