Presseschau | Empfehlungen für die Hybrid-Maske, Teil 2

Luckhaus Hybrid Mask by Lara Thornberry and Erin Lewis Fitzgerald

Meine Hybridmaske kommt herum!

»Sewing Change: The Iris Luckhaus Story« at OSMS

»The response to the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged experts across a number of industries to use their skills and resources to address needs in their communities. (…) Luckhaus (…) exemplifies exactly this. Her background in clothes design and pattern making allowed her to change the course of emergency mask production throughout the rest of the world.« – Based on an Interview with John Kalil for Open Source Medical Supplies [US], 13.7.2020

#themaskedoutfit with Erin Lewis Fitzgerald

»For a long time I was scrolling past mask posts on social media because masks weren’t on my radar. Australia was doing great (…). Oh how things change. (…) I tried a few mask patterns before finding my current favourite: the @irisluckhaus hybrid #luckhausmask (…) – a pleated surgeon-style mask with a special inward pleat at the top for perfect positioning over the nose, keeping your eyes clear for seeing. There’s no centre seam, so you can use gingham and other bold prints to their maximum effect. I was thinking there should be a hashtag for stylish outfit-of-the-day selfies with masks (…): #themaskedoutfit – Mending Icon Erin Lewis-Fitzgerald [AU] on Instagram, 20.07.2020; Picture © Erin Lewis-Fitzgerald

»Behind the Mask« at The Australian

»Melbourne author of Modern Mending, Erin Lewis-Fitzgerald, has been perfecting face masks at home, following a deep dive into the various patterns on offer online. Her pick: The Iris Luckhaus Hybrid Mask (irisluckhaus.de), a variation on the common pleated styles« – Glynis Traill-Nash, for The Australian [AU], Print and Online, 21.07.2020

»Favourite Mask Pattern« at Knitflix

»This is my favorite mask pattern, the Hybrid Cloth Mask from Iris Luckhaus. (…) Outfitted with a metal nosepiece, this mask stays put and doesn’t slip down when you talk.« – Bogie, Knitflix [US], 24.7.2020

»Adventures in Mask Making« at Thornberry

»This mask has become Clare’s favourite. It sits up nice and high across her nose and cheeks, so that her glasses hold it flat to her face and there’s no warm breath escaping out the top to fog them up. No nose wire. The pattern is by Iris Luckhaus. She has a number of variations of what she calls the Hybrid face mask. (…) The ones that I have been sewing are called the Hybrid Nose2 mask (…). I like this one as it comes up higher on the nose rather than sitting on the tip of it – but like all masks, it really is each to their own. Iris writes very detailed posts about masks; she includes information on different mask types, ways to tie a mask, why her mask works well, and the instructions and patterns are excellent. They come in a number of sizes, and the customised hybrid masks include nose masks, chin masks, beard masks, and information on adapting the pattern for different width faces. That said, I am only making the one style – it seems to work on many people.« – Adventures in Mask Making by Lara Thornberry [AU], 26.7.2020; Picture © Lara Thornberry

»Face Masks to shop from Australian Brands« by Vogue Australia

»If you’re on the brink of purchasing your first protective face mask, or if you’re on the lookout for a second (or third), scroll on for all the face masks to shop from Australian brands.« (#10 are the Luckhaus Hybrid Masks sewn and sold by my amazing sewing partner Reusable Masks Co Australia in her online shop! :)) – Vogue Australia [AU], 24.8.2020

»Masking up the N Club« at Nelkin Designs

»I landed on the one thing we all need more of lately… masks! (…) I found a mask design this summer that I LOVE and decided that was the perfect gift (…). What I love about this mask is that it has an inverted nose pleat with nose bridge wire that helps it fit great and stay put!« – Knitwear designer Laura Nelkin at Nelkins Designs Blog [US], 29.9.2020
