Preview | Mimi Fiedler’s “Balkantherapie”

Illustration mit Mimi Fiedler und ihrer Mutter Marija in We-Can-Do-It-Pose für den Umschlag des Buchs Die Balkantherapie für Liebe, Leib und Leben von Iris Luckhaus

I just finished numerous illustrations for the book »Balkantherapie« by the charming, smart, incredibly funny and simply great actress, singer, photographer and author Mimi Fiedler, which I’ve enthusiastically been drawing the past couple of weeks, as commissioned by the Münchner Verlagsgesellschaft.

Anthology | Spring Goddess Flora for IO Sedbook

In february, I was so happy about the first signs of spring that I started to draw Flora, walking through the forest. Soon, there were animals gathering around her, such as foxes, squirrels, swallows, peacock butterflies, racoon, badger, hedgehog, rabbit, marten, falcon, rookie, dormouses, jaybird, magpie, woodpeckers, titmouses, robins, goldfinches, sparrows, chiffchaff, blackbirds, tree frog, bumble bees and a roe deer!

Art Print | Flora with Spring Anticipation

Flora (Margarita) im Walde

Once again, I am not allowed to show any of my wonderful recent projects (yet!), so here’s some in between personal work; those are inspired by some early bloomers I discovered during the last weeks (marigolds, daisies and roses, which seem to be able to bloom under snow?!) – and full of anticipation for the approaching spring!

Sketchbook | Les Reines du Jardin du Luxembourg

Skizzen der Skulpturen der französischen Königinnen im Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris

Once again, after many years in between, I took my old sketchbooks with me to the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris (where I started drawing my very first portfolios, in order to apply at several universities), on a wonderfully sunny October afternoon – and it was so great that I’d like to re-establish my old habit of drawing sculptures in gardens!

Stadtsparkasse Wuppertal | Grifflenberg

Perspektivische Schwarzweiß Zeichnung der Gebäude der Uni Wuppertal, BUGH, am Grifflenberg, für die MasterCard der Stadtsparkasse für die Mitarbeiter der Uni

Once again, I’ve been drawing for the Wuppertaler Stadtsparkasse, this time a black-and-white view of the buildings of the University of Wuppertal (BUGH) on Grifflenberg. My illustration will soon be printed in ten different colour schemes on the front of a special mastercard for students and staff of the university.  For this project, I had to work very different from my usual process – not only without outlines, but also without people, details or colours, but precisely after a photograph, with correct perspectives – and it actually was a challenge, but a lot of fun as well!

Lillesang – Das Geheimnis der dunklen Nixe

Fotos von den Vignetten im Lillesang Buch

I am very happy about my fresh specimens of Lillesang – Das Geheimnis der dunklen Nixe (Nina Blazon, CBT Verlag), because the book turned out to be really, really awesome! Everyhing about it is really super nice: the print, the colours, the paper, the smell and the format! And how much I like the book itself, I already mentioned before.

Vampirmaus bzw. Blümchen, fürs Posten auf Lily Lux’ Facebookseite und fürs Weiterteilendürfen!

Update | Everything new in August!

Webdesign für Iris Luckhaus

It has been a little quiet around here the last couple of months, but this had a good reason: Next to my actual work, I built a brandnew website – finally bilingual, responsive, with my very own theme (thanks to WordPress and Headway Themes, which I’d definitely like to recommend!) and several new, long-wanted functions (like a multidimensional portfolio taxonomy) that seems to act and look fine on the most different monitors, browsers and devices*!
