Just Published | »Du hast das Wort, Schätzchen!«

Umschlagmotiv für Du hast das Wort, Schätzchen! 100 charmante Geschichten rund um die Sprache im Duden Verlag

I’m happy to announce that Rita Mielke’s book »Du hast das Wort, Schätzchen!« (»You have the word, darling!«) with 100 stories around the German language, which I recently illustrated for Duden Verlag, is finally available in bookstores!! Also, my specimens have arrived, and they look – and smell! – absolutely awesome!

Illustration für Du hast das Wort, Schätzchen! 100 charmante Geschichten rund um die Sprache im Duden Verlag von Iris Luckhaus

I am pleased to finally anounce a book I illustrated for Duden Verlag, a publisher which is famous for its dictionary of the German language, the »Duden«, as the predominant resource for German orthography, but also publishes other books with language-related topics. For Rita Mielke’s »Du hast das Wort, Schätzchen!« (»You have the word, darling!«), which tells 100 exciting and often surprising stories around the German language in a smart, warm and humorous way, I worked in a new, bichrome and simplified style, to resemble book illustrations of the Sixties.

Anthology | “The Neighbour” for “Bettgeschichten”

Teil der Zeichnung eines Pinups, das aufreizend am Fenster für den Nachbarn posiert, für die Comic Anthologie Bettgeschichten

I’ve drawn another special page: the “Neighbour” for the erotic anthology “Bettgeschichten – Comics für Erwachsene”! The book will be published by Zwerchfell Verlag, right in time for the Comicsalon Erlangen in June and was edited and supervised by Naomi Fearn and Reinhard Kleist.

Queen of Hearts for 52 Aces Reloaded | Making Of

Farbvarianten für die Herzdame Spielkarte für 52 Aces Reloaded von Zeixs

After writing a bit about research and reasons in the post about my Queen of Hearts I made two weeks ago for the 52 Aces Reloaded poker deck by Zeixs, I would now like to show some of my decision boards and part of the evolution of this card.

Graphic Design for Lily Lux Notizbuch | Small Maps

Illustration von zwei kleinen Landkarten oder Stadtplänen für Lily Lux

I love drawing maps, remembering discovered places and invent places that are undiscovered, but follow their own little logic… and it was great to be reminded of that by working on the “Lily Lux Notizbuch” (of the invented places – I gave parts of my actual existing maps to Lily Lux for the hotel scene in the book “Die wunderbare Welt der Lily Lux”…). And publishing this might be an inspiration for me to show some private map sketches? And to draw some more, someplace, soon.

“If you would like to know how to fold a paper ship, communicate without words, determine animal tracks, get lost the most effective way (and discover the most appreciatable sights that way), which holiday can be celebrated today, which recipes help against bad moods or when to see most shooting stars: In this lovingly designed book Lily Lux collected all this and much more!”

Greeting Card Backgrounds for Intergreeting Schott

Wild aquarelllierte Hintergründe für Grußkarten von Intergreeting

I had a hilarious weekend with a massive amount of paper, watercolours, inks, beetroot juice, red wine, curry, glass cleaner, christmas ornaments and plenty of other things that helped me work on some structured backgrounds for greeting cards by Intergreeting Schott. It was splendid to use colours, structures and chemical reactions just like a child, but it’s not as splendid how my office smells now… and the desk is slightly patterned as well.
